longarm ladies visit, Lucy & Ethel, start of quilting QoV

So....y'all know it's STAR WARS day today....right?

May the 4th.............be with you  :~) !!!!!

**************************************
It was a gloomy day when we got up on Friday (5/3), but Michael took Cookie for a walk first thing anyway.  I got the program all set up for my longarm, but then ran into a small snag.  My machine keeps track of the number of stitches and the time spent stitching, but I didn’t realize until I was doing my 3rd quilt that I need to reset those numbers at the beginning of each quilt.  I tried in vain to do that, and posted on FB, but no luck.  So….I had to wait until my dealer store opened at 10 AM to call and ask.  They didn’t know how to do it either (if I had a nickel for everytime someone has said to me 'WOW - no one has ever asked that before!!!'  From doctors to bosses to now apparently, my machine dealer!!!), but I kept working away and finally figured it out….yes, I was pretty proud of myself  :~).

After I got that all set, I ran upstairs to set up some food:

I'm really getting into these charcuterie trays...

before my 2 new longarm friends arrived at 11 AM.

Linda G & Linda H

As before, we talked solidly from 11 AM until 2:30 PM when they left….it was FABULOUS!!!!  I know I probably overuse that word, but it really was.

Linda H brought show and tell that we both loved,

this was a Hoffman challenge quilt...she got in for 5 years, which is very impressive!!!

and we helped Linda G to brainstorm some ideas for her new business (she is retiring from working with 4 year olds and going full time into custom quilting), and new business cards.

Michael spent all of that time out on the lanair, reading his book, and hanging out with Lucy & Ethel:

Don't you like those new 'special effects' from his phone?

When they left I decided to treat myself and sat and read my book until just after 4 PM, when I finally roused myself to go downstairs and quilt a bit:

Remember the quilt label I made for Michael’s cousin?  Well, he got a call in the afternoon and she passed away peacefully in her sleep!  That was quite a shock, as she was only diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a month ago.

I finally headed upstairs to snuggle, watch TV and knit for the rest of the evening.

The only new thing on this list is that the second QoV quilt has been basted and I’ve started quilting it.

-binding blue/purple quilt for Michael’s cousin.  His wife was recently   diagnosed with cancer and it doesn’t sound good.  I have a quilt
that needs to be bound that will be going to her.
-label for Michael’s cousin.  I’m changing out my generic label to one
        applying specifically to her.        DONE!
-hanger to hold scissors/seam ripper on longarm (I gave the one I
made to Kristen because it fit Miss Scarlett perfectly and I
didn’t think I could use it.  But I’ve now figured I could make the
same thing, just with a much longer hanging cord and it would be
perfect.  I’m already annoyed at how many times I am searching
for scissors/seam ripper and I’ve only done 2 quilts!!!
-cut fabric for disappearing hour glass (the new quilt I want to start) Halfway there!
-binding on quilt for Barry K.  I had a small quilt that Kristen practiced
on and I need to get it labeled and bound.
-finish edges of muslin circle quilt.  This is the first item I did on the
new longarm.  The edges need to be finished so that it can be
donated to the animal shelter for a bed.
-load up 3 QoV on new longarm   Second quilt has been basted and I’ve started quilting it.
-remove pool table cover from frame and rip out basting     DONE!
-trim & stitch edge of pool table cover       DONE!!
-borders on last retreat QoV…this is leftover from my last list  :~(
-sympathy note & photos to Peggy      DONE!
