SHQ show & tell, Jan & Inez, quilting started

Michael took off at 7 AM for golf on Thursday (7/20) while Inez and I headed out to quilting.  I think she had a good time...everyone was definitely pleased to see/meet her.  She got to talk to everyone and found out what they were working on.  We had great show and tell:

Judy with quilt for first grandchild

Chris

Denise with finished project from last week's class

Linda also gave us a cautionary tale about "not squaring up blocks before putting together into rows":

and made a quick trip to Loree’s afterwards to drop off some library books (Loree had some minor surgery and wasn’t feeling up to coming to quilting).  We headed for home and changed our clothes and went water walking in the afternoon.  Inez wanted to take us out to dinner, so we headed to Mama’s after picking up Jan at 5 PM.

Jan & Inez

When we dropped Jan off at 6:30, she packed up Cooper and headed out to her dog training class.  She said it is lots of fun as all of the dogs are puppies and SO CUTE!!  When we got home, Inez and I headed downstairs; Inez ran through her emails while I fired up Miss Scarlett and started to quilt the second Valor quilt.

We headed back upstairs around 9 PM to put together dough for Cinnamon Star Bread, and eventually went to bed after 10 PM.

My friend Leila sent us a treatise on our deck/porch/lanair naming and I thought it was so cute I wanted to include it:

I’ve been reading your blog about your new living space.   Here’s my two cents.

A deck does not have a roof.    A porch has a roof.    I couldn’t remember if your new space has just screens or windows (glass & screen).   If it just has screens, we’ve always called it a ‘screened-in porch’.  If it had windows and not heat, it’s a 3 season porch (since logically it wouldn’t be used in winter).

And to add to it your discussion (since Inez is visiting – Hello Inez) --  lanai in Florida can be any covered area outside of the house, usually screened, that is used as a living space.     In Hawaii a lanai is open sided.

Personally I think you got yourself a screened-in porch.
