quilts to be bound, Linda's quilt loaded, ham & cheese roll ups reprise

Michael left early Tuesday morning (8/30) for a routine doctor’s appointment, and I headed to my studio.  I took both Clinton quilts off of my machine and got them trimmed.  Then it took me quite awhile to sew in all of the ends, but finally they joined the pile of quilts waiting to be bound:

I will definitely have to wait until I get my Pfaff back to do that.  The rest of the morning was spent loading up Linda’s quilt.  It is a queen sized quilt and both the back and front needed to be ironed before loading as they were a bit wrinkly, so that took a bit of time.  I got it basted down

just in time for Joanne to pick me up for Stitch and Chat.  We had a good time there and I got to talk to some people I haven’t seen in awhile.  I had leftover dough, leftover cheese, and leftover sauce from the ham/cheese roll ups on Saturday, so when I got home I got right into making up another set (Michael had bought more ham at the grocery store).

I decided to sit and read my book while the dough was rising,

they really rose beautifully for 3 day old dough!
and Michael took Cookie for a short walk while that was going on.

I added the poppy seed sauce before sliding into the oven

after baking

yum!

We had those with some sliced up ‘maters for dinner, after which Michael left to see COME H_LL OR HIGH WATER and I headed back to the studio to make a start on Linda’s quilt.  I had 4 rows done by 10 PM and headed back upstairs to wait for my honey, who finally got home around 10:30.

flowers, sewing apron, soap cutters, martini night

Michael picked new flowers from the garden:

before leaving at 7:30 Am for golf on Monday (8/29) and I spent the morning getting ready for my Chocolate Committee Meeting at 9 AM.  We had a GREAT meeting…and did a bit of socializing at the end.  Everyone finally left around 10:30 and I headed to the studio.  I got everything back in my sewing apron and it looks beautiful:

note STAR TREK: next gen on TV in background  :-)

and all of my new fat quarters ironed and cut out correctly this time:

Larry called to see if I was home so that he could drop off a project he made for me

(BG do you recognize this?  Soap cutters coming your way…although you have to buy your own bench scraper because the one in the picture is mine :~)!  Linda M (Thursday quilter) also stopped by to drop off a quilt to be done and by then it was time to head to the Lake House to water walk with Pat.  When I got home I set my hair and read my book for a bit.  At 6 PM I told Michael I couldn’t keep my eyes open and had to take a little nap.  He closed the bedroom doors…and opened them up again 3 minutes later!  At least I would have SWORN it was 3 minutes later, but he said it was 6:30 and I needed to get ready for martini night.

We had a wonderful time..the food was terrific,

and we played a musical game that had us all laughing hysterically!  Dessert (which I didn’t get a picture of) was crepes stuffed with strawberry cream, topped with whipped cream…heaven!  I was home around 10 and read for just a bit before bed.

Jerri L Clinton quilt, a little more cleaning, beaucoup Cookie, sewing apron clean up, featherweight

We headed out to STACK’s Sunday morning (8/28) for a yummy breakfast…..1/2 of which we each brought home.  I headed to the studio to get to quilting again.  As I mentioned, I finished the leftovers quilting on Saturday and I had another charity top to do.  Jerri L from Thursday quilting wanted to help out with a quilt for Clinton.  She gave me the inside of this quilt and I added 2 borders and voila….a new Clinton quilt that I was finished quilting by 3 PM.

second quilt loaded up within an inch of the leftovers quilt

While the quilting was going on, I got a small amount of cleaning done….  Before

and After

I also got the squares cut to make one more row on my rainbow pinwheel quilt (the Thursday project).  One more row will make it the perfect size for Beds = Dreams (aka Sterling).  I was thinking of just putting big borders on 2 of the ends….but that really wouldn’t have looked as nice as it could, so I sucked it up and cut more squares for more pinwheels blocks :~).  Michael came down to look at his emails, and as usual, we had company:

mom quilting, dad at the computer...all is right with the world

After I finished quilting the second Clinton quilt I decided that this was the perfect time to clean out my sewing apron…since my machine is AWOL!  WOW – it was stuffed full of CR_P…

some things got put in the door apron since I don’t use that stuff very often (remember this?):

a close up of some of the pockets

some got thrown away, and here’s what’s left that has to fit back into the apron once it is washed and anchored with a long stick:

Michael and I both had leftovers for dinner, then I headed back downstairs until around 9 PM.  I decided to put the sleeve on the back of my sewing apron and get the stick in (ok BG....how are you doing with yours?!?!?!):

Which I got sewn in with the help of my feather weight:

I finally headed upstairs at 9 PM...really pooped, but happy with what I accomplished today.  A little TV and snuggling with my honey, then it was off to bed.

flip flop quilt, "breeze" on leftovers quilt, ham/cheese roll-ups, Jim's victory party

I keep forgetting to put this statistic in the blog….so while I’m finally remembering, here it is:  I think I mentioned that my suitcase weighed 49 pounds on the way to Connecticut….well, on the way home it weighed TWELVE!!!  And that included 3 – 4 yards of fabric from BG (she’s hoping to hire Pat W to do a bag) and 1/2 of a suitcase full of batting  :~).

And, I just wanted to include this cute show and tell picture from Thursday quilting:  I love this little quilt...all of the straps on the flip flops are 3-D!

Anyway, Michael left before 7 AM for golf here at SCCL on Saturday (8/27) and after a quick trip to the grocery store, I headed to the studio to continue quilting.  Leila (from Connecticut) is letting me borrow her YELLOW BRICK ROAD pattern…which I understand is a really easy pattern.  So, while Miss Scarlett was handling the quilting, I was going through Ginny’s fabric once again to find 4 red fat quarters, 4 cream fat quarters and 4 blue fat quarters.  Well – it just goes to show you that easy for some is hard for others…I cut the first 4 fat quarters all wrong  :~(.  So, on the hunt for more fat quarters !

I love the quilting I am doing on the leftovers quilt.  With the outside border looking like this:

I thought my “breeze” stitch would be perfect:

fleece back

I finished the quilt around 3 PM and headed upstairs to get ready for our party.  I made roll dough for eventual use in ham/cheese roll ups with that poppy seed sauce:
making ham/cheese roll-ups, they were yummy!

I told my friend Jim that I would throw a victory party for him when he was elected to our HOA board….so that was Saturday night.  I got a list of people he wanted to invite and sent out invitations.  Unfortunately, most of the people were out of town…but we had a good time with the ones who came:

Evelyn & Pat

Pat & Dan, Phil

Anne, Jim, Susan
And the food was good as well:

yummy desserts!

deviled eggs, chicken bites, and the ham/cheese roll-ups

Not everyone got to join the party right away:

Everyone left by 9:30 and we both sat and read for a bit before heading to bed.

rainbow pinwheel quilt laid out

Michael took Cookie for a short walk Friday morning (8/26), then laid out my Scrap Happy Quilting Thursday project:
you should really click on the picture to make it bigger to see the rainbow striped fabric

OMG!!!  I love it!  Not sure if it will be big enough for a Beds = Dreams quilt, but maybe I can add some borders.  At 9 AM I picked up Susan (who had arthroscopic surgery on her knee on Wednesday) and took her to CVS and the library and the bank before getting home at 10.  Michael left shortly afterwards for the chiro, BJ’s, the sewing machine store (he is dropping off my PFAFF….my workhorse….for a tune-up…..you are right….I am stressing out already…..what am I going to do?  Luckily as I mentioned, I hope to be quilting my brains out :~) and a couple of other places I don’t remember right now.  I spent an hour pinning the Thursday quilt together and labeling the rows so that I can sew on it next week, and then started quilting.  I got 2 rows done and by then it was time to meet Pat for walking in the pool.  I was home before 4 PM and boy…..I can tell how out of shape I am.  When you are walking in the pool…it always feels like I could do it for a couple of hours….doesn’t really feel like exercise at all.  But once I got out and got home….I was whipped and just sat and read for a bit.  Michael made vegetable pot stickers for dinner, then we separated to watch our various shows and quilt a few rows before getting together again around d9 PM to watch a bit of TV before bed.
