flowers, Sue & Charlie, rosemary/onion rolls, cinnamon star

Our flowers exploded while I was on retreat and I finally got some pictures of them Monday morning (5/8):

our roses by the garage

canna lilies in big pot out front

what I call beach roses at the side of the house

After that we got the guest room bed sheets stripped and washed and towels ready for our next set of guests.  Michael’s sister Sue and brother-in-law Charlie are coming for a short visit after working on their vacation house in Blowing Rock.  Ken & Dave showed up to put up the railing for our deck….only to find that they had ordered the wrong colored spokes, so they only put up brackets:

Pat stopped by for a visit and to pick up some fabric, and Sharon stopped by to drop off her papers for fostering….we are going to sign up for kitten feeding duty at a local shelter…I can’t wait!  I spent a bit of time quilting and setting up a label for one of the patriotic quilts…and then Sue & Charlie were here!!!

We talked out on the deck, just enjoying the breeze and the view for quite a bit, then Michael took them on a golf cart ride to the river and I got rosemary/onion rolls made

to go with our soup for dinner, and another cinnamon star

for dessert!  It’s too funny…when I was thinking of making the star I said to Michael “do you think they’ll eat this?” because Sue and Charlie are very healthy eaters…and then, when we were sitting on the deck Sue said that in her head she had said to herself “wouldn’t it be wonderful if she made that cinnamon thing”…that’s serendipity!  We played SCREWED and SEVENS after dinner and finally went our separate ways close to 10 PM.
