Friday
(5/15) was another day of crafting, with a bit of cooking thrown in. We made 90 baklava cookies first thing in the
morning, which Michael took over to Sally’s on his way to the grocery
store.
This is Sally’s wedding weekend:
her son is getting married and she has a lot of out-of-town company. I wanted to do some food to help, but she
would only let me make cookies. Anyway,
then it was back downstairs where BG finished sewing in ends on the last quilt,
and started trimming all of them. Then
we had the “parade of quilts”:
I had to take a close up so that you could see it is ALL fruit & veg patterns |
BG made this top at retreat last year |
she said the pattern of this quilt sucked her right in |
this is for her grandson, Gordon |
This
has been a whirlwind, but also a wonderful group of days spent together. Luckily we both have the same idea of what
vacation should be about…..WORK!!! (As long as it is "craft" work) I
think we both had a blast, and got a lot accomplished as well. Michael took our picture in our matching
quilting t-shirts
before we took off just after 1 PM to pick up Steven at the KOA
campground (BG flew down on Tuesday, Steven started driving down in the RV on
Thursday and they will drive back together starting Saturday).
When we got home, Michael and Steven bonded
over golf (the Wachovia here in Charlotte), while BG and I put together mac ‘n’
cheese, coleslaw, Hawaiian Rolls and chicken breasts (which Michael
grilled), and a cherry crumble pie.
Peggy & Larry
came over at
5:30 to admire BG’s tumbling blocks (Larry built the frame for it) and to enjoy
dinner. We talked and talked and talked and talked around the table until just
after 9 PM.
BG & Steven
took our car
and drove back to their RV, while Michal and I read for a bit, then collapsed.
