HAPPY NEW YEAR’s EVE!!! It was raining again on Thursday when we got
up…..everything is flooded…you can even see the small creek behind our house
which is almost never visible. Although
it was raining, by 9:30 AM it was a very light mist and Michael decided since
it was warm, that he should take that opportunity to take down our outside
lights. They’re been shorting out a lot
recently with the rain, so that was another good reason to take them down a
little bit early. I headed downstairs to
start basting and quilting the “reading” quilt.
I worked on it on and off during the day and
got it finished just as it was time to go upstairs and start to get ready for
our party. We put out extra tray tables
and chairs, made up another run of Devo Delights (our special drink), put out glasses/plates/etc
and I made a batch of appetizers (actually I made a double run of the filling as I hope to take this as my food contribution to quilting next week)
and put out some of our homemade candy.
Everyone started arriving at 7 Pm to be greeted with:
and by their host:
They all brought more food
and I think
everyone had a wonderful time. It was a
much more intimate group than in the past, and Michael got pictures of almost everyone (although we never did get a picture of Loree & Reg :~(,

and that was very nice as well. We had the “ball” countdown at 10 PM (which
is mid-night in the country of DEVOkistan) and everyone was gone by 11 PM. We cleaned up a bit, read our books for a
bit, greeted the new year and then headed for bed.
