The high point of Friday (8/19), was meeting Mary Jo at Quilting
By The Yard and then heading off to Rein’s for our Rueben sandwiches….YUM!!! While we were at QBTY, I walked out to the
front desk to ask a question and a woman said ‘hello’ to me….now we were only
in the store for 20 – 25 minutes, but during that time an old friend from
Ellington Country Quilters and Tuesday night sewing just happened to stop in. I haven’t seen Rochelle since we moved to
South Carolina, but she looks exactly the same!
It was a wonderful serendipitous meeting. The rest of the day was spent with Janice talking
and talking and talking!!! She fixed an
incredible shrimp dinner…with just the perfect amount of heat. After that Dennis put the extenders on the table
and we set up our machines and sewed a bit.
Saturday dawned and Mary Jo, Leila (happy to be getting her baby quilts back....all quilted):
BG and Tara arrived….we sewed
ALL DAY!!! Janice has a terrific set up, with lots of room for all of us and our machines....a cutting station and 2 ironing stations.
Although there was also plenty of
time to nosh on the delicious food that Janice made and that everyone
brought. Karen B stopped by to visit in the afternoon as well. By the time we finished….BG had
completely finished her quilt top…isn’t it gorgeous:
I finished the top 1/2 of my quilt…
and made
good progress on the bottom. We left
Janice’s before 7 PM and came home and collapsed. Other than talking….we just sat….tomorrow
will be another VERY early day….
