Foust, tutorial on making tomato sauce in crockpot

Monday (8/8) was all about Foust!  Foust is a fabric warehouse with great prices even on a normal day, but twice a year they sell things at their normal prices less 15%  :~).  Four of us headed out there at 8:30 AM and after a full morning of shopping

and a stop for lunch at Schlotzsky's....yum!! , got home after 3 PM.  We all converged on Pat’s sewing room and sold fabric to each other (at Foust you have to buy the entire bolt of fabric, so after that we sell yards to each other) and finally headed for home.  I did take a quick trip to the library to return an overdue book, then I just collapsed in the living room to further recover from my weekend ordeal.  After Michael left for his Fort Mill Community Playhouse board meeting, I got a little energy and put together a crockpot of Robin’s tomatoes…let me show you how easy it is to make sauce:

take one beautiful tomato

cut it in half from north to south

notch out the green stem part

toss it into a crockpot

when the crockpot is full, add 5 large cloves of garlic

Then set it outside on the deck (to keep the heat out of the house) set on low and cook it overnight...approximately 12 - 14 hours.  In the morning, use a chopstick to prop open one side of the lid and let some of the liquid cook off for 3 - 4 hours.  I'll have more pictures tomorrow of the finishing touches.

After that, I just sat in the living room reading until Michael got home from his meeting at 9 PM.  Both of us were tired, so we just read for a bit before bed.
