Even
though it was raining and Michael’s golf was cancelled, he made his regular
breakfast omelet on Monday morning (4/23):
I got a second butterfly started:
and one additional row on my quilt
before leaving for Cooking Fingers. Each
quilt row on this design has over 11,000 stitches…so it takes a while to stitch
out. And the bobbins run out every 1-1/4
rows…so that slows me down. Anyway…when
I got to the Lake House and noticed the display windows I was really
excited. Before Easter there was a PEEPS diorama contest…there were many, many entrees and I was irritated with myself
that I never got up there to take pictures…some of them were totally
hysterical. There were a few left in the
window and since I had my camera, I snapped these:
pickle ball peeps |
Easter parade hat peeps |
Cooking Fingers was wonderful!!!

had lots of facts about the food that was popular, what was invented during the decade and what people were drinking. So we had chicken ala king from the 40’s, a molded jello salad from the 50’s, an artichoke square from the 60’s and hummingbird cake from the 70’s.
Everything was yummy and I was certainly full by the time I came home at NOON. I spent the afternoon finishing up the second quilt:
and finishing a second embroidered butterfly:

Just before 3:30 we headed up to the vet with ALL of our furry babies
:~(. We were supposed to be going for the kitties 9 week inoculations, but I swear the kitties have mange…they’re getting patches all over their bodies…and Cookie has something starting in the corner of her eye! It ended up that the vet thinks Cookie has an infected cat scratch…and then we started talking about the kittens….here’s what I wrote to Nadine (kitties foster mom) when I got home:
“Kitties
got 2 inoculations and one de-wormer. Vet
thinks they have ringworm (answered my question...yes I can get it if broken
skin....I laughed....I have kitten claw puncture wounds all over!!! I told her to pull out gun and shoot me
right then, but she said not actual worms....just a fungus so I came down
off of the ledge). Have to do
culture...won't know for 7 days so nothing to fix that until we know.”
A
huge bill later, we got home after 5 PM.
I kind of just putzed around until just after 6 PM when I picked up
Donnis and headed over to Pat’s for martini night.
doesn't our hostess look pretty? |
The food was OUTSTANDING!!! George made 2 deep dish pizzas (he & Pat
are from Chicago)
and Pat made an antipasto salad.
For dessert she made an Italian Wedding Cake
and it was scrumptious!
We played Salad Bowl and talked and laughed through the entire night:
Andi, Patti, Barb, Ellie, Pat, Donnis |
I didn’t get home
until 10:30 and Michael and I stayed up until almost mid-night watching TV and
talking a bit.

CHAPPAQUIDDICK =
If you hate the Kennedy’s, you will love it.
If you love the Kennedy’s, you will hate it.
The
“untold” story of Ted Kennedy and Mary Jo Kopechne shows what power and wealth
can do for someone. Ted Kennedy pleads
guilty to ‘leaving the scene of an accident’ when he probably is guilty of ‘vehicular
manslaughter’. The family relationships
are delved into as well. I give it 2-1/2
fat quarters out of 5.
BEIRUT = Starring Jon Hamm. This is a well written, tense, fictional
account of a kidnapping of a CIA spy in the early 80’s in the middle east. Arabs, Muslims and Jews all play a part in a
prisoner swap. Things that were
happening in Lebanon 30+ years ago are still relevant today. Jon Hamm carries the picture with excellent
acting. I give it 4 fat quarters out of
5.
Love the last but not least 🦋! You know by now my color is purple! Can’t wait to see the finished ‘hanging’! Next time I see Michael I need to get into his review of Chappaquiddick! AM143
