dark purple iris, FOUST day!, Elsie, sewing cake

Michael was up early on Monday (8/7) to snap pictures of our first (and probably only) dark purple iris:

These bulbs were a gift from Loree…and the rabbits ate most of the leaves…but at least we got one absolutely gorgeous iris!!

It was FOUST DAY!!!!!!  YAY!!!  Seven of us met at the Lake House parking lot at 8 AM and headed off to Foust.  We searched for bargains for over an hour:

Nancy, who came from Chicago for the sale!

Loree

and some of us were so disciplined that we didn’t buy ANYTHING:

Pat W
Then it was off to Carolina Cotton where several of us scored:

Jerry, Gee, Nancy, Loree (in back) Robin, Pat

We met up with 4 other friends and headed to the Gentle Moon Café for a fabulous lunch, then made a quick stop at SEW MUCH FUN before finally getting home around 3 PM.  I was pooped after all of that bargain hunting and just read my book for the rest of the day!  Michael came home from Fort Mill Golf Course, happy with his 82….and after he got cleaned up and relaxed for just a bit he headed back out there to see Charlie Rymer, a golf professional who graduated from Fort Mill High School.  He put on a wonderful program and Michael got to talk to him and have a great BBQ dinner before heading back home.  We just watched a bit of TV before bed.

You know, with 2 of my machines out of commission (long arm and embroidery machine), the pool table has become a stopping ground for all sorts of things….and as always, Elsie finds the softest, cushiest place to lay her little head (and body):

But since Pat W was so wonderful to stitch out labels for me…those Valor quilts will soon be a thing of the past at least as far as being beds from my Elsie kitty are concerned  :~)

And I just have to share this picture that Arizona Mary (remember her from the QUAP retreat late last year?)

shared with me....isn't this an awesome looking cake:

It would almost be a shame to eat it!!
