We
were up at o’dark hundred Tuesday morning (8/4) to get Michael to Charlotte in
time for his cataract surgery. The
hardest part of the entire day was finding the parking garage, and then finding
the office! After that, it was pretty
much a breeze. Michael didn’t have to
undress to put on a gown, or even take off his shoes….they put booties over his
shoes and he was covered by a blanket, other than that they gave him some happy
juice and away he went. I swear I barely
got settled in the waiting room, and had read 2 pages of my book when they
announced I should go to room 17 for recovery…and there he was. Although he was hoping for a “pirate patch”
(mostly so that he could say ar-r-r-rg all day), he just had a small plastic shield
taped to his face over the affected eye.
We headed back home, stopping for breakfast/lunch on the way (we were
both starving as he wasn’t allowed to eat before the surgery) and finally
arrived home around 1:30 PM. I ran up to
Stitch and Chat to say hello and deliver some hand cream, then headed back
home. We both took a short nap in the
afternoon before heading back to the doctor’s office for a post surgery check
up. Michael’s pressure was slightly high
in his eye…so get this prescription…the doctor (after asking if Michael liked
wine) told him to have a glass with dinner and then another before bed!!! They also game him drops to be used 3 times…but
Michael was ALL OVER that wine prescription
:~). We had leftover pizza for
dinner, then Larry picked up Michael to go and see the new MISSION IMPOSSIBLE,
while I stayed home to socialize with Joanne, Paula & Donna, who all came
for a visit. Michael got home after 10
and said his vision had already improved (as the doctor indicated it might) and
after a glass of wine we headed to bed.
When I
did our garden pictures, I forgot to include this picture of the pot in front
of our garage…those red flowers are blooming for the second time and they look
quite spectacular:
